The sediment pre-filter is used to prevent dirt and sediment particles from entering and clogging the main filter unit. Each pre-filter cartridge should be replaced every 2-6 months depending on your water quality and sediment levels. Change the pre-filter cartridge when there is a noticeable reduction of flow through the filter system or if the pre-filter cartridge becomes heavily discolored.
